Turkish brands are in demand across the Gulf. What to prepare, from entry model and legal rules to brand adaptation and marketing, before you expand to Saudi Arabia, the UAE or Qatar.
Türkiye → Gulf
Short answer: choose the right entry model, check each country’s rules, adapt the brand without losing its identity, rebuild the numbers with local costs, create demand before opening, and choose your partner carefully.
Turkish food, fashion, beauty and home brands enjoy strong recognition in the Gulf. Quality, design and a familiar cultural feel make them attractive to customers and local investors. But what works in Istanbul does not automatically work in Riyadh or Dubai.
1. Choose the right entry model
- Franchise or master franchise: a local partner invests and operates. Fast and capital-light, but needs a strong system and a reliable partner.
- Joint venture: shared ownership and control with a local partner.
- Direct investment: your own company and branches. Most control, highest cost and risk.
- Distribution: for product brands, a distributor can open the market before you commit to stores.
2. Understand the rules in each market
Each Gulf market is different. Saudi Arabia has a dedicated Franchise Law: franchisors must give a disclosure document at least 14 days before signing, and agreements must be registered with the Ministry of Commerce. Other markets rely more on general commercial rules. Budget time and legal fees for each country and register your trademark there early.
3. Adapt the brand, keep the identity
- Arabic naming, menus and packaging that read naturally, not like literal translations.
- Product and menu adjustments for local taste and certification requirements.
- Store formats that work for families, delivery and local shopping hours.
4. Plan the numbers in local reality
Rents, salaries and fit-out costs in major Gulf cities can differ sharply from Türkiye. Rebuild the unit economics with local figures before you set fees or investment ranges.
5. Build demand before you open
The strongest openings arrive with an audience already waiting: Arabic content, community work and paid campaigns that collect leads before the first branch opens. In our campaigns for clients in Saudi Arabia, WhatsApp-led campaigns have been one of the most efficient ways to start real conversations with customers and partners.
6. Choose the partner carefully
The partner matters more than the market. Look for experience in your category, financial strength, real estate access and cultural fit. Visit their operations and check references.
